Iran’s industrial growth rate hits 2%: deputy minister

TEHRAN - Iran’s industrial growth rate is currently 2 percent, according to deputy industry minister Ja’far Sarqini.

The industrial growth rate has significantly improved from the disappointing figure of minus 10 percent in the previous year to 2 percent in the current year, ISNA quoted Sarqini as saying on Saturday.

The current Iranian calendar year started on March 21.

The International Monetary Fund has said President Hassan Rouhani’s policies of reducing energy subsidies along with the easing of international sanctions have helped to steady Iran’s economy and cut inflation.

Iran’s $400 billion economy is forecast by the Fund to expand 1.5 percent this year, after two years of contraction.

Iran says its military forces stabilize region

TEHRAN – “The Iranian military forces create stability not only for Iran but the whole region,” Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on Monday.

Larijani made the remarks in an address to a number of military forces in the southern province of Bushehr, where he said there is no need for extra-regional interference in the Middle East since “Muslim countries can provide the security of the region themselves,” the Mehr news agency reported.

Larijani also lauded the deterrence power of the Iranian armed forces, which he said “displays the might of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He stated that despite the instability of most regional countries, particularly Iraq, Syria, Egypt and Libya, Iran enjoys a favorable stability thanks to the country’s armed forces.

------ Larijani calls for ‘economic uprising’ in Iran

The parliament speaker also commented on the financial status of the country, calling for an “economic uprising”.

“Currently, we are through some inflation-related problems. The administration and the parliament are now spending a great deal of time on this issue,” Larijani said, adding, “The remarks made by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution concerning ‘resistance economy’ are very important. He [the Leader] has pointed out that the economy should be based on production.”

----- Psychological, defensive security required for economic development

Larijani also said two main principles of “psychological and defensive security” are essentially required for the economy and investment to flourish in the country.

Iran’s Supreme Leader undergoes successful surgery

TEHRAN - Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei underwent a successful surgery on Monday.

He had a prostate operation at one of Tehran’s state-run hospitals.

“There is nothing to worry about. [But] this does not mean that I do not need the people’s prayers,” the Leader said before the surgery.

It is a normal surgery, Ayatollah Khamenei added.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani visited the Leader and said that he is in good shape.

There is no room for concern, and the people should be thankful to God for the Leader’s health, Rouhani added.

“All people should pray for his health,” the Iranian president said, adding that they should also pray that he will have the blessing to be able to continue to serve the Iranian nation and the Islamic world.

Rouhani, who traveled to Astana, Kazakhstan later on Monday, said he had been ready to stay in Tehran, but the Leader advised him to make the visit as planned.

Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Expediency Council Chairman Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, and other high-ranking officials also visited Ayatollah Khamenei in the hospital.

Mohammad Golpayegani, the chairman of the Leader’s office, said Ayatollah Khamenei will return home after five or six days.

Talking to reporters after the operation, Golpayegani said, “His health is very good, and the surgery was performed successfully.”

The physicians, who were specialists, were satisfied with the outcome of the surgery, Golpayegani added.

The head of the Leader’s medical team, Alireza Marandi, said that the operation was performed with only local anesthesia and without general anesthesia.

“The Leader is well and asked me to inform the people that he is well,” he said.

The country exported around 18 million tons of cement in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2014.

The country ranked first in the Middle East and third in the world in terms of cement exports.

Iran calls on UN to end child suffering in armed conflicts

Iran calls on UN to end child suffering in armed conflicts

TEHRAN –
“The present world events indicate that children are still suffering in massive numbers around the globe as a result of armed conflicts,” Iran’s ambassador to the UN says.

Hossein Dehghani made the remarks on Monday in his message to the United Nations Security Council’s open debate on “Children and Armed Conflict” in New York.

He said, “Despite all the efforts at the international level for the protection of children and civilians in general and the measures taken by the Security Council and relevant humanitarian institutions, it is regrettable that armed conflicts still take a very heavy toll on children and, … we still witness the recruitment and use of children, ***ual violence against children, the killing and maiming of children, recurrent attacks on schools and/or hospitals in contravention of international law.”

Israel’s massacre of Gaza children

Dehghani, who is also Iran’s chair of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement, referred to Israel’s seven week-long assault on the impoverished Gaza Strip, where many civilians, mostly women and children, were killed.

“Children in the Occupied Palestinian Territory have always in the past many years suffered the heaviest casualty rate. They continue to be harshly affected by the prevailing situation of military occupation, conflict and blockade,” Dehghani stated.

“According to the United Nations, in the latest round of Israeli aggression against Gaza, at least 501 children were killed and over 3,000 injured, while 373,000 Palestinian children are in need of immediate psychosocial first aid.

“According to UNICEF at least 219 schools have been damaged by Israeli airstrikes, while 22 were completely destroyed,” he explained.

He also stated that the regime of Israel should be held accountable for the crimes it committed during its offensive on Gaza.

“In light of the above, NAM would like to use this opportunity to call for accountability for the crimes and violations committed by Israel, the occupying power, during its recent military aggression against the Palestinian civilian population and the wanton destruction of vital civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip,” he said.

“The international community, including the Security Council, should ensure serious follow-up efforts to bring an end to Israel’s impunity and to realize justice for the victims,” Dehghani added.

The ambassador also said, “NAM calls upon all parties to armed conflict to redouble their efforts to comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law, including the principle of proportionality, inter alia, prohibiting the targeting of civilian populations, civilian property and certain special property during an armed conflict, and obliging parties to any conflict to ensure general protection against dangers arising from military operations for civilian installations, hospitals, schools means of transportation and relief materials, and distribution of such relief materials.”

NAM determined to eliminate violence against women

He also expressed the NAM’s resolve “to eliminate all forms of discrimination and violence against women and the girl child especially in situations of armed conflict and foreign occupation, including the systematic use of abduction and rape by the parties to the conflict, including as an instrument of war, as well as the trafficking in and victimization of women and girls.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Dehghani congratulated the United States of America for assuming the presidency of the UN Security Council in this month.

‘Iran-Russia trade could jump tenfold in 2 years’

TEHRAN – Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh says Iran and Russia can increase bilateral trade by tenfold over the next two years.

On Tuesday, Zanganeh and Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak signed an agreement in Tehran to expand cooperation in the areas of industry, mining, trade, agriculture, tourism, modern technology, and energy.

According to the agreement, the two countries will use their own national currencies for bilateral trade.

“It is hoped that the implementation of the agreements would boost current bilateral trade from around $1.5 billion annually by tenfold over the next two year,” the ISNA news agency quoted Zanganeh as saying on Tuesday.

“We can provide Russia with a wide range of commodities and services they may not have access to due to the illegal sanctions. We will sign a memorandum of understanding today with an eye to finalizing the bilateral trade deal,” he added.

Zanganeh also called Russia a “great market for Iranian companies.”

Novak, for his part, hailed greater ties with Tehran, saying, “This event is a milestone in Russian-Iranian commercial relations, which will facilitate trade between the two countries.”

In April, Zanganeh said the Islamic Republic is determined to raise the volume of its “economic transactions” with Russia under long-term deals.

On August 5, Iran and Russia signed a five-year memorandum of understanding in Moscow to expand trade and economic cooperation.

The agreement provides for closer cooperation in a number of areas, including in the construction and overhaul of generating facilities, the development of electric grid infrastructure, in the oil and gas sector, and in the area of trade in machinery, equipment, consumer goods, and farming products

According to the Iran Customs Administration, non-oil trade between Iran and Russia amounted to $1.1 billion in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2014.

Iran exported $316.5 million of non-oil goods to Russia and imported $758.3 million of non-oil goods from Russia.

Iran’s non-oil trade up 44% in 6 months

Iran’s non-oil trade up 44% in 6 months

TEHRAN – Iran’s total non-oil trade hit $49.69 billion in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-September 22), a 44 percent rise compared to the same period in the previous year.

Iran exported $23.66 billion of non-oil products and imported $26.21 billion of non-oil products during the six-month period, the Fars News Agency reported on Sunday.

China, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates were the top three importers of Iranian non-oil goods. And the United Arab Emirates, China, and India were the leading exporters of non-oil goods to Iran.

Interest in Iran as a destination for business is growing ahead of the international talks, which are being held to resolve the deadlock over Iran’s nuclear program.

If the discussions between the six major powers and Iran progress smoothly, it is expected that the sanctions imposed on the country will be eased and commercial routes will be revived.

On June 12, Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Director Valiollah Afkhami-Rad said Iran’s annual non-oil exports are projected to rise by 50 percent and hit $47 billion in the current Iranian calendar year.

Iran’s non-oil exports witnessed nearly half-a-percent growth while the country’s imports dropped around five percent in the previous Iranian calendar year, according to Press TV.

Iran unveils energy saving plans valued at $12b

Iran unveils energy saving plans valued at $12b

TEHRAN – Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh says eight plans, valued at $12 billion, have been developed to reduce gasoline, diesel fuel, and natural gas consumption in the country.

The plans have been submitted to the National Council for Economy to be approved, the Mehr News Agency quoted Zanganeh as saying on Tuesday.

Supplying natural gas to villages and small cities, improving efficiency of powerhouses in residential and commercial units, expanding subway networks, and renovating bus transportation fleets are among the projects which will be carried out in this respect, he explained.

Zanganeh said in August that the administration has allocated $60 billion for implementing energy saving and environmental protection projects.

Environmental protection and energy saving are among the top priorities of the administration, the Shana News Agency quoted Zanganeh as saying.

Oil exports ‘acceptable’

Elsewhere in his remarks, Zanganeh said oil exports from the Islamic Republic were acceptable and revenue was on the rise.

“Iran’s oil exports are acceptable and growing currently, and revenues are higher than the previous estimates,” the oil minister said.

Zanganeh offered no specifics in terms of revenue in his latest remarks.

Iran, under the terms of a November 2013 agreement with Western powers, secured relief from some of the sanctions targeting its energy sector in exchange some sanctions relief. The U.S. Treasury Department in July extended that relief through November.

Iran can export around 1 million barrels of oil per day under the deal.

Last month, Tehran said oil production increased 11 percent in the four months since the March 21 start of the Iranian calendar year. This in turn helped to contribute to export earnings of around $7.9 billion.

Iran allocates $400m for expansion of modern irrigation systems

TEHRAN – The Iranian Agriculture Ministry has allocated 13 trillion rials (about $400 million) for the expansion of modern irrigation systems in the country.

“The finding will be spent to establish modern irrigation systems across 200,000 hectares of farmlands,” the IRNA news agency quoted Deputy Agriculture Minister Rahim Sajjadi as saying on Tuesday.

“With regard to low precipitations in the country and due to the fact that high volumes of water are consumed in the agricultural sector, we are inevitable to change the traditional irrigation methods.”

A shortage of rainfall, especially in the central, eastern, and southeastern parts of Iran, has led to a scarcity of drinking and irrigation water.

Department of the Environment Director Masoumeh Ebtekar said in August that water scarcity is a “crucial issue” for Iran, and there is also great concern that water conflicts could break out in the future.

Russian firms holding negotiations with Iran on mineral exploration projects

TEHRAN – Certain Russian companies are negotiating with Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) to carry out mineral exploration projects in Iran.

IMIDRO Chairman Mehdi Karbasian said the organization has allocated 1.2 trillion rials (about $37m) for mineral exploration projects across the country, the IRNA news agency reported.

In August, Karbasian said IMIDRO is ready to attract foreign investments for exploration, exploitation, and processing of minerals.
One of the main policies of the administration is to encourage Iranian investors living overseas to participate in domestic development projects, Karbasian said.

About 5,000 mines are being exploited in the country, he stated.

Iran is also one of the top 15 countries in the world in regard to mineral reserves and exports its industrial and mineral products to 159 countries, including Iraq, China, the United Arab Emirates, India, and Afghanistan, he stated.

After an interim deal between Iran and six world powers on Iran’s nuclear activities last November, the Islamic Republic has been planning to reach for international investments in its energy, auto, and mining industries. The deal aims at limiting some of Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for partial sanctions relief.

To the Youth in Europe and North America/Message of ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of The Islamic Republic of Iran

To the Youth in Europe and North America/Message of ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of The Islamic Republic of Iran

In the name of God, the Beneficent the Merciful

To the Youth in Europe and North America,

The recent events in France and similar ones in some other Western countries have convinced me to directly talk to you about them. I am addressing you, [the youth], not because I overlook your parents, rather it is because the future of your nations and countries will be in your hands; and also I find that the sense of quest for truth is more vigorous and attentive in your hearts.

I don’t address your politicians and statesmen either in this writing because I believe that they have consciously separated the route of politics from the path of righteousness and truth.

I would like to talk to you about Islam, particularly the image that is presented to you as Islam. Many attempts have been made over the past two decades, almost since the disintegration of the Soviet Union, to place this great religion in the seat of a horrifying enemy. The provocation of a feeling of horror and hatred and its utilization has unfortunately a long record in the political history of the West.

Here, I don’t want to deal with the different phobias with which the Western nations have thus far been indoctrinated. A cursory review of recent critical studies of history would bring home to you the fact that the Western governments’ insincere and hypocritical treatment of other nations and cultures has been censured in new historiographies.

The histories of the United States and Europe are ashamed of slavery, embarrassed by the colonial period and chagrined at the oppression of people of color and non-Christians. Your researchers and historians are deeply ashamed of the bloodsheds wrought in the name of religion between the Catholics and Protestants or in the name of nationality and ethnicity during the First and Second World Wars. This approach is admirable.

By mentioning a fraction of this long list, I don’t want to reproach history; rather I would like you to ask your intellectuals as to why the public conscience in the West awakens and comes to its senses after a delay of several decades or centuries. Why should the revision of collective conscience apply to the distant past and not to the current problems? Why is it that attempts are made to prevent public awareness regarding an important issue such as the treatment of Islamic culture and thought?

You know well that humiliation and spreading hatred and illusionary fear of the “other” have been the common base of all those oppressive profiteers. Now, I would like you to ask yourself why the old policy of spreading “phobia” and hatred has targeted Islam and Muslims with an unprecedented intensity. Why does the power structure in the world want Islamic thought to be marginalized and remain latent? What concepts and values in Islam disturb the programs of the super powers and what interests are safeguarded in the shadow of distorting the image of Islam? Hence, my first request is: Study and research the incentives behind this widespread tarnishing of the image of Islam.

My second request is that in reaction to the flood of prejudgments and disinformation campaigns, try to gain a direct and firsthand knowledge of this religion. The right logic requires that you understand the nature and essence of what they are frightening you about and want you to keep away from.

I don’t insist that you accept my reading or any other reading of Islam. What I want to say is: Don’t allow this dynamic and effective reality in today’s world to be introduced to you through resentments and prejudices. Don’t allow them to hypocritically introduce their own recruited terrorists as representatives of Islam.

Receive knowledge of Islam from its primary and original sources. Gain information about Islam through the Qur’an and the life of its great Prophet. I would like to ask you whether you have directly read the Qur’an of the Muslims. Have you studied the teachings of the Prophet of Islam and his humane, ethical doctrines? Have you ever received the message of Islam from any sources other than the media?

Have you ever asked yourself how and on the basis of which values has Islam established the greatest scientific and intellectual civilization of the world and raised the most distinguished scientists and intellectuals throughout several centuries?

I would like you not to allow the derogatory and offensive image-buildings to create an emotional gulf between you and the reality, taking away the possibility of an impartial judgment from you. Today, the communication media have removed the geographical borders. Hence, don’t allow them to besiege you within fabricated and mental borders.

Although no one can individually fill the created gaps, each one of you can construct a bridge of thought and fairness over the gaps to illuminate yourself and your surrounding environment. While this preplanned challenge between Islam and you, the youth, is undesirable, it can raise new questions in your curious and inquiring minds. Attempts to find answers to these questions will provide you with an appropriate opportunity to discover new truths.

Therefore, don’t miss the opportunity to gain proper, correct and unbiased understanding of Islam so that hopefully, due to your sense of responsibility toward the truth, future generations would write the history of this current interaction between Islam and the West with a clearer conscience and lesser resentment.

İslam'la, Kur'an ve büyük peygamberi (SAV)'in hayatı vasıtasıyla aşina olunuz. Ben burada kendinizin şu ana kadar direkt olarak müslümanların Kur'an'ına müracat edip etmediğinizi sormak istiyorum. İslam peygamberi (SAV)'in ahlaki ve insani öğretisini araştırdınız mı ?

Rouhani calls his administration ‘government of environment’

Rouhani calls his administration ‘government of environment’
Tehran Times Political Desk

TEHRAN - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has underlined that his administration attaches great significance to the protection of environment.

President Rouhani made the remarks on Sunday in the 10th National Environment Award ceremony.

The administration has high regard for the environment and insists on the protection of natural resources and wildlife habitats, Rouhani added.

“Restoring Lake Urmia, the second largest lake in the Middle East after the Caspian Sea and the sixth largest salt-water lake on the planet, was among the first bills ratified during the [tenure of the] present administration,” he added.

Rouhani further highlighted the role that the Iranian nation can play in preserving the environment.

Rouhani called his administration “the government of environment” and said “if environment is not taken care of sustainable development, technological development and human health cannot endure.”

Tackling environmental situations and protecting natural resources entail the balanced utilization of nature, promotion of environment consciousness, and investment in clean technologies, the president noted.

Rouhani said it is necessary to guard the environment for children and future generations.

--------Protection of water, soil, and air

The president further said, “Today the protection of water, soil, and air are good instances of conjoining the good.”

The administration has supported initiatives to counter the factors that are detrimental to the environment, he said, elaborating that such initiatives include offering cleaner fuels and producing vehicles that conform to environmental standards.

He said the government banned consumption of petrol produced by petrochemical companies and distributed Euro-4 gasoline in big cities and set environmental standards for cars introduced to the market.

The president also voiced determination to increase gas extraction from the fields that Iran shares with its neighbors, saying the country is capable of producing more gas as an alternative for mazut, a highly polluting fuel for industrial centers and power plants.

Rouhani also called for collective efforts by regional countries to settle Iran’s environmental issues such as the haze and dust particles that enter Iran from Iraq, which according to some experts including MP Mohammad-Mehdi Shahriari, are polluted with depleted uranium due to the U.S. Army’s use of ammunition containing the substance while the U.S. troops were in Iraq in the 2000s.

--------- ‘Oppressive’ sanctions

Elsewhere in his remarks, Rouhani called for the removal of “oppressive” Western sanctions to revive the Iranian economy.

With the removal of the sanctions, capital could flow in, and financial, environmental, industrial, and employment issues would be resolved, he added.

“The cruel, unjust sanctions must be lifted so that doors to investment would open. Sanctions must be lifted so that environmental and youth employment issues would be resolved and the country’s economy reaches a desirable state,” he said.

“Those who exerted sanctions on Iran made an oppressive move against the nation, but some people (inside the country) did not know what the sanctions were and did not know that it is like a fever which turns into a disease,” the president noted.

“These sanctions are like fever. At its early stage, the person says it is not important and does not care; but when the fever intensifies and starts to affect, it is already late and he should strive to recover.”

Gilan Province home to highest rate of senior citizens, new figures reveal

Tehran Times Social Desk

TEHRAN- The head of the Secretariat for the National Council of the Elderly has claimed that Gilan and Sistan and Baluchestan Provinces have the highest and the lowest rate of life expectancy in Iran respectively, the Mehr news agency reported on Friday.

Farid Barati-Sadeh said that the aging population in Iran is increasing and taking into consideration the country´s current young population, Iran will be hit by a more aged population in the coming years.

Standing at 11 percent, Gilan Province, which is situated along the Caspian Sea, has the highest rate of people aged 60 and over, Barati confirmed.

“Health care services in Gilan Province are better than in other provinces, this is why people live longer there,” he claimed.

“The birth rate in this province is high as well,” he added.

He also warned that once the elderly population reaches 12 percent, an aging crisis will take place.

‘We must make some planning from now on to deliver services to the aging population in order to avoid a crisis in the future, however, no measures have been taken yet,” he said.

“With the increase in the aging population, Iran will face serious challenges if senior citizens’ needs are ignored,” Barati warned.

Sistan and Baluchestan Province is located in the southeast of the country, bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan and its capital is Zahedan.

Iranian museums to extend opening hours
Tehran Times Social Desk

TEHRAN – Iran’s museums and historical complexes will be open seven days a week to improve public viewing and increase revenues.

The visiting hour is also extended from 9:00 to 19:00, Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) Deputy Director Mohammad-Hassan Talebian announced in a statement released on Saturday.

Currently, most major museums in Iran are closed on Monday. But under a plan developed by CHTHO, the museums’ hours would expand.

The visiting hour of the complexes and museums can be extended by the directors as well, the statement announced.

The museums will be closed on the death anniversary of Imam Khomeini on June 4, the anniversary of martyrdom of Imam Ali (AS) on lunar month of Ramadan 21, the anniversary of martyrdom of Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (AS) on Shawwal 25.

The anniversary of martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions on Muharram 9 and 10 and the death anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (S) and Imam Hassan (AS) on Safar 28 are the other dates on which, the museums and historical complexes will be closed.

The new strategy follows a well-established trend. The Louvre, Versailles and the Musée d’Orsay in France as well as the British Museum and the National Gallery in England are now open all week. The Prado in Madrid began opening every day in 2011.

Tehran Times Social Desk

TEHRAN - A wildfire began Saturday midmorning continues to rage in the heights of Fasa County, according to Saeed Hormozi, head of the local department of environment– IRNA reported.

Hormozi confirmed that a total of 80 people from various organizations including police force, department of environment and even locals are still desperately trying to put out the fire.

“With a lot of effort, the fire on the mountainside is now under control,” he explained.

“However, the wind is directing the fire towards Ghomshei Plains of Sarvestan and can destroy a good part of the area if it reaches there,” Hormozi warned.

Last summer, about 15 hectares of the same land, natural habitat to birds, rabbits, tortoises, reptiles and venomous and non-venomous snakes were burnt.

Fasa County is located 130 kilometers to the southeast of Shiraz in Fars Province.

The likely cause of the fire was not given in the report.

----- 130 hectares of forest burnt in Shahin Dezh

In a separate report released also by IRNA on Saturday, says an estimated 130 hectares of land burnt Friday evening in Soleimanabad in West Azerbaijan Province due to negligence from locals.

Hossein Abbasi, an official at Shahin Dezh County said that it took 10 hours of combined efforts from the Natural Resources Organization, Red Crescent Society, fire extinguishers and locals to bring the fire under control.

The large scale of the fire combined with the roughness of the area made the extinguishing process very slow, he said.

Soleimanabad is a forest reservoir located in the central area of Shahin Dezh and is home to wolves and various species of birds.

TEHRAN- Car manufacturing in Iran rose 17.2 percent in the first two months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-May 21), compared to the same period of time last year.

Iranian carmakers manufactured 161,426 vehicles in the first two months of this year, the IRNA news agency reported on Tuesday.

Car production in Iran rose over 53 percent in the past Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, compared to its preceding year.

Iranian carmakers manufactured more than 1.13 million vehicles in the last calendar year.

The automobile industry, the biggest non-oil sector of the Iranian economy, constituting around 10 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), boomed over the decade ending in 2011 due to government support and the dearth of international competitors in the domestic market.

Iran produced 1.6 million vehicles in 2011; the year new sanctions were introduced by the Europeans.

Tehran Times Political Desk

TEHRAN -- Iran says it will take legal action against the U.S. if Washington tries to block new Iranian passenger aircraft on international journeys.

The U.S.government has declared that the assets of Mahan Air which flew the nine used Airbus jets to Iran last month are “blockable”, raising fears of having them seized at international airports.

Head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) Alireza Jahangirian said the U.S. Treasury Department’s statement contravenes international conventions on civil aviation, Press TV reporter Tuesday.

The official said the first of the eight A340s and one A321 will become operational in the country’s aviation fleet in the coming weeks after receiving flight permit.
