Xantia's suspension systems
All Xantias feature Citroën's genuine HYDRACTIVE suspension system. Three different versions are available:
Note that the suspension systems are usually tied to specific engines; the more powerful the engine, the better the suspension. However, the combinations of engines, suspensions and trim levels vary from country to country.
On HYDRACTIVE II suspensions, the ride can be adapted to NORMAL or SPORT mode by touching a switch between the front seats. And if you watch a Xantia switching the headlights on and off at daylight, it might be a driver determining the state of the suspension. The light indicating the state is located in the switch and is only active with the suspension set to SPORT and the headlights switched on.
On all of Xantia's suspension systems, the ride height can be adjusted in four positions.The car cannot be driven in the upmost and the lowest position, both are for maintenance only.

- HYDRACTIVE II - electronically controlled hydropneumatic suspension.
- ACTIVA - electronically controlled hydropneumatic suspension with nearly no body roll during cornering.
