Abstract—This paper presents a novel structure for a planar ultrawideband (UWB) antenna which has an omnidirectional radiation pattern and stable gain in the frequency range 3.1GHz-10.6GHz. This structure consists of an elliptical slot which is fed by a fork shaped microstrip transmission line.
Also, by adding three stubs to the UWB structure, a multiband antenna has been implemented which covers Bluetooth, WiMAX, WLAN, and ITU standards frequency bands. The return loss, radiation pattern and peak gain are studied by computer simulations are shown to be in good agreement with the measurement results. This structure has a compact size (29×26.5 mm2), is light weight and can be easily fabricated.
