[h=2]Want to live, work or study in the UK?[/h] IELTS is approved by the UK Government for your UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) application. Click on the link below if you have been informed that you must take IELTS test for UK Visa and Immigration purposes.
If you wish to use a result from IELTS or IELTS Life Skills as part of your application for UK visa purposes (apart from some types of student visa), you will need to take the test at an IELTS test centre which is specifically authorised by UK Visas and Immigration for this purpose.
[h=2]Test conditions, availability & fees[/h] The test will be given under conditions specified by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).
Test are available on a wide range of dates from a number of permanent global locations selected by the UK Government.
In addition these are supplemented by additional locations, referred to as “pop-up” locations, selected by the UK Government. IELTS for UKVI and IELTS Life Skills in these pop-up locations will usually be made available on a quarterly basis where there is demand.

[h=2]How to book your test using the online registration system[/h] If you are applying to move to or stay in the UK and have to take IELTS for this purpose, you can book your test using our online registration system. Follow these instructions:
- Step 1: Before booking, check which test you need and the level you need to achieve for your visa purpose, see UK Visas and Immigration website.
- Step 2: Make sure you know what IELTS test you are required to register for and select the right test type and the location. IELTS test for UKVI includes IELTS Academic, IELTS General Training, IELTS Life Skills A1 and IELTS Life Skills B1, see what is IELTS for UKVI.
- Step 3: Visit the online registration system (which will open in a new window) and follow the on-screen instructions.
You will need to submit valid identification documents (ID) as part of the registration process.
Please not that you are required to produce your original and valid identification document (ID) on the Test day. It must be the same ID with which you register for the test. So make sure the ID documentation you use will be valid on your test date as if you fail to bring your original and valid ID on the test day, you will not be allowed to continue with your test. You may also lose your entire test fee.
In addition to this, you will also be required to submit a copy of the same ID on the test day.
