What is Aspen Properties Mobile?
Aspen Properties Mobile (APM) offers quick and convenient access to physical property data over your mobile phone or
tablet computer. Aspen Properties Mobile V7.3.1 works with Apple’s iPad™, iPhone® 4, iPhone® 3GS, iPhone® 3G, the
original iPhone®, and iPod® touch.1
Aspen Properties Mobile is an extension of Aspen Properties®, AspenTech’s market-leading physical property database
and calculation engine. It provides access to property data and calculations for pure components, binary, and multicomponent
mixtures of conventional components. Aspen Properties Mobile can be extended to include customer
proprietary property data and calculations through the APED (Aspen Properties Enterprise Database) feature.
Aspen Properties Mobile is a client-server application. The calculation engine and property database is hosted on a
dedicated server owned and maintained by your enterprise. A very light client application is installed on the end-user’s
mobile device. The client application can be downloaded directly from Apple’s App StoreSM.2
Mobile access provides a quick and easy way to get physical property data when and where you need it – at a customer
site, in a conference room, from home, on the road – anywhere you can remotely access your corporate network. The
application is very easy to use, enabling everyone in your organization to use consistent property data and methods to
support process and product design tasks.
Installation
Your IT administrator needs to set up a dedicated server with Aspen Properties V7.1 or higher (version V7.3 is required to
use Aspen HYSYS® property methods in Aspen Properties Mobile). Aspen Properties Mobile Server and Microsoft®
Internet Information Server (IIS) must also be installed on the property server. See the Aspen Properties Mobile Installation
and Configuration manual for details.
The client application is available as a free application on Apple’s App Store – enter “AspenTech” in the App Store search
window to quickly locate AspenTech’s mobile offerings.

Configuring Default Settings
After installing the Aspen Properties Mobile application on your mobile
device, you can configure the default options through the Apple Settings
application. Go into Settings, scroll down to the Aspen icon labeled Properties, and tap the icon or label to open the
configuration screen.
Go to the Server Connection screen to enter the IP address, user ID, and password for your Property Server account
provided by your Aspen Properties administrator.
You can also configure the default units of measure within the settings. Go to the Global Units screen to select the base
units set (SI, Metric, or English). You can also override the default units for any of the physical types. These global settings
will be applied to any new property case you open.

Getting Started
After installing the Aspen Properties Mobile application on your
mobile device, you can open the application by tapping the Properties
icon with the Aspen leaf symbol.
The application will then connect to the Aspen Properties Mobile
server and open the Start screen. This screen helps you manage your
cases, override the default units, and view news and information about
Aspen Properties and Aspen Technology, Inc.
Case files are stored locally on your mobile device. You can name and
save your cases for future use. Aspen Properties Mobile will always
start from the previous case. You can tap Create new case to clear the data and start fresh.

Aspen Properties Mobile includes access to the Aspen Pure Component Database and the NIST TRC (Thermodynamic
Research Center) database. Together, these databases cover more than 24,000 pure components. Your company may opt
to include additional in-house databanks using Aspen Properties Enterprise Database.
Aspen Properties Mobile is not designed for petroleum fluids (pseudo components or assays), polymers, or nonconventional
solids such as coal and biomass
